Although the St Stephen’s Catholic College Board sets a direction that enables the college to fulfil its educational role within the context of Church teaching, diocesan pastoral directives and Catholic Education Community’s policies and procedures, its responsibility is one of limited jurisdiction.
Specific responsibilities are articulated in the constitution and in other policies from the Bishop or Diocesan Boards. While the Diocesan Board of Governance, Education sets general education policy enacted through Catholic Education Community and its Executive Director, the Diocesan Board of Finance outlines general financial guidelines enacted by the Vicariate for Finance and Administration and its Financial Administrator.
The Board performs a significant role in assisting the Principal and college community to develop a vision for St Stephen’s Catholic College and to provide advice on decision-making. This valued input extends to board representation on appointment panels for college administrators and College Captains.
Monthly meetings are held at the college. Parents and members of the community are encouraged to apply for membership by contacting the Principal’s assistant.
