St Stephen’s Catholic College retained the District Athletics championship title for the third successive year.
Secondary schools across the Tableland gathered at Atherton State High School last week to compete in the two day carnival. St Stephen’s Catholic College triumphed while Mareeba State High school came second and Atherton State High School was placed third on the ladder.
St Stephen’s Middle Leader for Sport & Activities, Miss Deanne Morrow said participation and team spirit gave St Stephen’s the edge, earning them a trifecta win.
“The fact we had a full complement of competitors in every event came down to individuals’ willingness to put their needs before their own in true St Stephen’s Spirit,” she said.
“I would like to congratulate all members of the team, for their determination as well as their performance and conduct both on and off the track
“Thank you also to Atherton State High and Mr Darren Blooranta for hosting such a successful carnival.”
A total of 58 students from St Stephen’s have been selected to represent the Tableland District in the upcoming Peninsula regional athletics carnival in Cairns later this month.
