The Australian and New Zealand Brain Bee Challenge is a challenge for students interested in learning about neuroscience research, the brain and its functions. Students participate in an online quiz to determine their knowledge and understanding of the structure and function of the brain. Students who achieve a high score in this round are then asked to attend a full day of activities at a university in Brisbane. During this time they compete in round two to determine the state champion.
Mikaela Millerd, year ten student, competed in round two in July, at the Queensland Brain Institute, University of Queensland in Brisbane. The day included an Individual Challenge to determine the 2017 ABBC Queensland Champion, as well as tours of the research laboratories and presentations by special guests working in neuroscience.
