The Year 12 outcomes of OP-Eligible students in 2015, ensured that St Stephen’s Catholic College is once again in the Queensland University of Technology’s ‘Blue Group’ status.
Since 2005, the Queensland University of Technology has been analysing the Queensland published data in relation to senior schooling.
Over this time, they have developed several indices which, they believe, are underpinned by socially just principles and an ethic of care, justice and critique. One such index is the “Blue Group”. In 2015, 19 Queensland schools fulfilled the following criteria:
- Three consecutive years where over 90% of the OP eligible cohort achieve 1-15
- The percentage of OP eligible students does not show a declining trend over the past three years
St Stephen’s is one of five Catholic schools state wide to be included in the Blue Group. The other four are Religious Institution schools in Brisbane. It is also one of only two schools outside Brisbane to fulfil the criteria.
College Principal, Mrs Ida Pinese, welcomed the news. “The nurturing environment, supportive structures to assist students with decision-making and the college’s culture of striving to achieve one’s best are all factors which have contributed to these great results,” she said.
“Also, the strong partnerships which are formed between parents and the college have a significant influence on such positive outcomes.”
