On 20 and 21 October, St Stephen’s Catholic College was again represented at the Queensland Inter School Chess State Finals. The team of Iago Roche-Maxwell, Brandon Osborne, Caleb Shorey and Layton Osborne, competed among the top eighteen school teams from regional and metropolitan Queensland.
After two days of solid performances, St Stephen’s Catholic College finished as regional runners-up, narrowly missing first by just one point. In addition to the outstanding team result, Caleb Shorey won best regional board three performance, winning 4½ from a possible six points.
Congratulations to the whole team, and a special thank you to Mr Michael Harnischfeger for his continued coaching of the team and for supporting the team in Brisbane during the tournament.
